A MOTORCYCLIST is in a serious condition in hospital after being thrown from his bike in an accident.

The collision, involving a blue Mercedes 4x4 and a blue and white BMX motorbike, happened around 1.30pm yesterday on the A737 near Dalry.

The two vehicles collided at the junction with Blair Road, around a mile north of Dalry.

A 55-year-old male rider was seriously injured after being thrown off the bike, and was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The male driver of the Mercedes, 64, was not injured.

Sergeant Ian Thornton from Ayrshire’s Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who was on the A737 around the time of the incident and who may have seen the blue and white BMW motorcycle travelling south towards Dalry to get in touch with us.

"Anyone with information can contact officers at Irvine Police office via the 101 non-emergency number.”
