Tennent’s Lager celebrated the Turner Prize exhibition arriving in Scotland for the first time today by displaying its own take on art at a prime spot in Glasgow city centre.

Passers-by were left amused and bemused in equal measures as they were met with a perfectly poured pint on display in a classic cabinet at the top of Buchanan Street.

An accompanying card described it as ‘a pint of Tennent’s’ by artist Keith Lugton – who is in fact the master brewer at the East End brewery.'

Keeping watch was a 6’7 security guard, who made sure that no thirsty onlookers dared to get too close to the arty creation.

A spokesperson for Tennent’s Lager said:  “We brewed up the idea when we heard the Turner Prize was heading north and thought we’d have a bit of fun.

"Glasgow – and Scotland as a whole – has so much creative talent that we should be proud of and it’s just our little nod to that, but also to the fact that we know some folk consider the perfectly poured pint to be a work of art in its own right.

“It might not be a Banksy masterpiece but Tennent’s is well-crafted by our master brewer Keith, and is valuable to many on a Friday night down the pub!  We wish the Tramway the best of luck with their exhibition.”

The Turner Prize is one of Europe’s most prestigious contemporary visual art awards and the exhibition can be viewed at Glasgow’s Tramway from October to January 2016.
