DETECTIVES are urging pub goers to help piece together the moments before a man was seriously assaulted.

Enquiries are continuing after a 25-year-old man was attacked in Possilpark on Monday just after midnight.

He left the Ashfield Bar in Hawthorn street at around 12.20am and shortly afterwards was attacked and stabbed.

The man suffered stab wounds and was taken to the City's Royal Infirmary where his condition was described as stable.

Police said the victim had been involved in a disturbance in the pub earlier in the evening but said the motive of the attack was unknown.

Officers are gathering CCTV images but appealed for those who were in the pub that night to come forward.

Detective Constable Shona Beattie said:“This man has suffered serious injuries in an attack – the motive of which is presently unknown.

"We know he was involved in a disturbance earlier in the evening in the Ashfield Bar in Hawthorn Street and I am appealing for anyone who was in the bar to get in touch with us.

"Additionally, if you saw anything outside in the street around the time of the incident, please do pass the details onto police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Maryhill Police Office on the non-emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
