Police have launched an appeal to find a man who has Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, and has been missing from the Pollokshields area since Friday afternoon.

Alistair Fox was last seen by family at around 5.15pm, at an address in Newark Drive.

Analysis of CCTV shows a possible sighting of him heading east on Nithsdale Road, at Darnley Road, at around 6pm.

Alistair is described as a white man with a medium build and is approximately 6 foot 3” in height.

He is bald with white hair at the side and has a white trimmed goatee beard.

He was last seen wearing a black plain jacket, dark blue jeans, black trainers and a black bag.

The 71-year-old takes regular medication and it is not known if he has his tablets with him.

Inspector Iain Arnott of Greater Glasgow Police Division said: “It is unlike Alistair to be gone for this period of time without letting his family know where he is going. There are real concerns for his wellbeing given that Alistair has dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

“Our focus is to trace Alistair safe and well. Officers, including the force helicopter, are currently searching for Alistair across the south side of Glasgow. We are checking available CCTV and contacting staff in local businesses to assist with the search.

“At this time we seek assistance from the public in tracing Alistair safe and well. If anyone has any information as to his whereabouts, please contact police at Cathcart police office immediately on the 101 number."
