A heavily pregnant women has been injured in a "senseless attack" in her car.

The assault took place in the grounds of Bonnyrigg Health Centre off the High Street.

The 42-year-old victim, who was sitting in her parked car, received minor facial injuries and was checked over by medical staff, with no further physical trauma inflicted.

Officers are following a positive line of enquiry but are appealing to anyone who has information to contact Police.

Inspector Wendy Neilson said: "This was a seemingly senseless attack that left a pregnant woman badly shaken and I am keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this assault, or may have information which can assist with our enquiries."
