Richard Walker, editor of the Sunday Herald and The National,  and Tony Carlin, the editor of the Evening Times, have stepped down from their positions at the Glasgow-based news titles.

Mr Walker will become a consultant editor at The National.

Paying tribute to Mr Walker, 60, and Mr Carlin, 54, Tim Blott, managing director of Herald & Times Group, said: “I have worked with them for a number of years.

“They have been great ambassadors for the company and strong champions for their titles. I thank them for all they done and wish them every success in the future.”
