A PAIR of pupils of a prestigious Scottish music school have won places at two of the world's top universities.

Singer Electra Lochhead, 19 is going to study at the internationally renowned Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, while her former schoolmate Rowan Hawitt, 20, a saxophonist, is heading south to study music at Cambridge University.

Both girls, who hail from Edinburgh, attended St Mary’s Music School, Scotland’s only independent specialist music school for musically gifted children.
