EUROPE'S busiest airport has launched a six-week marketing drive to encourage investment into Glasgow.
Heathrow Airport has teamed up with Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Marketing Bureau to promote the city to its 22 million annual business travellers as an attractive place for foreign direct investment.
New advertisements showcasing the best of Scotland's largest city have gone live across all terminals at the London hub today [Mon].
The screens highlight Glasgow’s position as a world-class tourism and investment destination, as well as its connectivity to worldwide destinations via Heathrow, which serves more than 180 global destinations.
There are nine daily services between Glasgow Airport and Heathrow, transporting over 900,000 passengers annually.
Glasgow Airport is owned by a consortium that includes Spanish construction giant, Ferrovial, the biggest shareholder behind Heathrow.
Heathrow chief executive John Holland-Kaye said: “As the UK’s only hub airport, Heathrow is our front door for global investors. I hope that by encouraging them to visit and invest in Glasgow, we can help to grow businesses and create jobs in the region.”
Liz Cameron, vice-chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “Glasgow will be featured across the airport during what is one of Heathrow’s busiest periods. This opportunity provides us with a significant, high-profile platform from which to reinforce Glasgow’s position as the powerhouse of Scotland’s economy."
