AN eight-year-old girl is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a bus.

The girl was struck as she crossed Main Street, in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, at about 5.35pm on Friday.

She was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where she is in a serious condition.

The driver and passengers on the single-decker bus were uninjured.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for witnesses after a two car crash in South Lanarkshire.

A man and three teenagers were injured in the collision between a black Mazda and a black Vauxhall Corsa on the A73 at Thankerton, near Biggar, on Thursday at 9pm.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Mazda and the 17-year-old female passenger in the Corsa are both described as being in stable conditions in hospital.

A 14-year-old girl, who was sitting in the back of the Corsa, is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to her spine.
