A man and three teenagers have been injured following a two vehicle crash.
The collision between a black Mazda 2 travelling north and a black Vauxhall Corsa travelling south happened at around 9pm on Thursday on the A73 at Thankerton, near Biggar, South Lanarkshire.
The driver of the Mazda, a 20-year-old man, was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where his condition is described as stable.
The 19-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Corsa was released from the same hospital after treatment.
His front seat passenger, a 17-year-old girl, suffered head injuries. She is still in Wishaw General Hospital where her condition is described by staff as stable.
A 14-year-old girl, who was sitting in the back of the Corsa, was also taken to the same hospital where she was treated for serious injuries to her spine. Her condition is said by staff to be stable. It is understood she is to be transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Police are appealing for information about the crash..
Sergeant Joe McGuckien said: "I would ask anyone who saw the crash take place to contact road policing officers at Motherwell Police Office via the 101 number.
"I am particularly keen to hear from an HGV driver who, from witnesses, we believe was driving in front of the black Mazda at the time of the crash and who therefore may have information that will help officers with their enquiries."
The A73 at Thankerton was closed for around six hours following the collision.
