Concern is mounting for a vulnerable 88-year-old woman who has been missing for two days.

Janet McKay, who has dementia, was last seen at noon on Wednesday by neighbours in the Knightswood area of Glasgow.

Police said all attempts to trace Ms McKay have so far proved unsuccessful as they called on members of the public to continue to keep an eye out for her.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and visiting previous addresses in an attempt to locate the missing woman, whose relatives are said to be extremely upset following her disappearance.

Bus travellers have been asked to look out for the pensioner, who is known to travel by bus around the Knightswood, Scotstoun, Glasgow city centre, Govan, Largs and Helensburgh areas.

She is described as white, 4ft 10ins, with a slight build and short grey/white hair.

She is believed to be wearing a light cream jacket with a hood, dark trousers, dark maroon boots and carrying a brown handbag and a carrier bag.

Inspector Stuart Clemenson said: "Given the period of time Mrs McKay has now been missing, we are concerned for her safety and well-being.

"As you can imagine, her family is extremely upset and just want her home safe and well.

"We are grateful for the assistance of the public in sharing information via social media platforms and continue to appeal to people to look out for her and contact police if you have seen her."

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Drumchapel police office on the non-emergency 101 number.
