A MAJOR search is underway in Glasgow for a missing 88-year-old woman.

Janet McKay, who suffers from dementia, was last seen at noon by her neighbours in Dykebar Avenue, Knightswood.

She has not made contact with anyone since.

Janet is described as white, 4ft 10in tall, of slight build with short grey/white hair.

She is believed to be wearing a light cream jacket with a hood, dark trousers, dark maroon boots and carrying a brown handbag and a carrier bag.

Police said Janet has links to Scotstoun, Glasgow city centre and Govan and believe she may have travelled there.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Janet suffers from dementia and her family and police are becoming increasing concerned for her safety and wellbeing.

"Anyone who has seen her since lunchtime on Wednesday, or anyone who knows of her present whereabouts, is asked to contact police on 101."
