Prince Harry's former girlfriend Cressida Bonas has decided that another link to royalty is not for her.

The aspiring actress has turned down a part in a new £4.3m movie about Bonnie Prince Charlie to be filmed in Scotland later this month.

The Great Getaway - which tells the story of Charles Edward Stuart's escape - would have been the 26-year-old's second movie.

Miss Bonas was offered the part of the wife of a Jacobite supporter, Catherine Mackinnon, who helps the prince escape capture after the Battle of Culloden.

But Director Robbie Moffat said:"We made her agent a very good offer - several thousand pounds - but she turned it down. Maybe she's had enough of getting too close to royalty for the moment."

The part has now gone to Scottish actress Vivien Reid, while Heartthrob Jamie Bacon and Scottish actress Mhairi Calvey will take on the lead roles of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora McDonald.

The eight weeks shoot will culminate in the biggest battle scene ever staged in Scotland, with 500 extras at Castle Kennedy, near Stranraer.
