Glasgow's Star Folk Club continues to promote music through the summer months and has a full programme during July.
Acclaimed Teeside trio, Young'Uns bring close harmony treatments of traditional sea and working songs as well as more recent compositions on July 7. The new partnership of concertinist Chris Sherburn and Glasgow-based singer-songwriter Findlay Napier appears on July 14, followed by staunch Clydeside singer Arthur Johnstone and his long-time accompanists, the Stars Band on July 21 and voice, fiddle and frets trio Rallion on July 28. The club meets every Tuesday at 8pm in The Admiral Bar in Waterloo Street.

Grammy Award-winning jazz/soul singer Gregory Porter, pictured, has announced a sixteen date UK tour in April 2016 with four concerts in Scotland. Porter, whose most recent album, Liquid Spirit, won the rare distinction for a jazz recording in the UK of achieving gold album status, plays Edinburgh Festival Theatre on April 10, His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen (11), Perth Concert Hall (12), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (14).

Idaho-based string band Hillfolk Noir return to Scotland in July as part of a UK and Ireland tour to promote their new album, Pop Songs For Elk. The group, who specialise in blues and old-time country music and feature instruments including a musical saw, appear at the Performing Arts Centre in Kilbarchan, on Friday, July 11 and Harbour Arts Centre in Irvine on Saturday, July 12 before travelling to Donegal to take part in the Earagail Arts Festival, followed by dates in Gateshead, Poole and London.

Glasgow funk band Federation of the Disco Band release a new live CD/DVD on Monday, July 27. Called No Place Like Home, it was filmed at the band's sold-out show as part of Celtic Connections at the Arches in Glasgow in January and will be available to download on a 'name your price' basis. The Federation, who made a big impression as the house band on BBC TV's Tonight at the Games chat show during the Commonwealth Games last summer, are also giving fans the option to download the audio or video or both versions.
