A 16-year-old girl has been airlifted to hospital after falling 50ft from cliffs at a castle ruin.

The fire service, coast guard and ambulance service launched a join rescue after being called to Dunbar Castle in East Lothian just before 3pm.

A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "A 16-year-old female had fallen over cliffs and on to rocks 50ft below.

"The fire service administered oxygen to the casualty who was airlifted to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary suffering from neck injuries, a suspected broken leg, suspected head and spinal injuries."
