A timber wagon crashed into a house on a Highland road leaving the driver trapped, but there was nobody in the house damaged by the lorry.

However Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) crews had to prop up part of the property as they cut the him free. He was later taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by ambulance, although it is unknown how seriously he was injured.

The lorry was thought to have hit another HGV at Balnain on the A831 between Drumnadrochit on Loch Ness-side and the village of Cannich at around 8am. It ended up crashing into the front of the house, which was later confirmed to have been unoccupied.

Six SFRS units attended the accident near the Glenurquhart Hotel. A specialist trauma team was sent from Glasgow and the air ambulance was in attendance, although the injured driver was taken to hospital by road.

The A831 was closed by the incident as police investigated.
