A 92-YEAR-OLD man has died in hospital after being taken there with a gunshot wound shortly after a fire at his son's house.

Andrew Allan was treated at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness after an incident at a property on July 25.

He had been discovered by firefighters who had been called to an incident at the home of his son, also called Andrew.

Mr Allan Snr lived in a caravan just 500 yards from the property. It is believed the pair had been involved in a long-running dispute.

Firefighters were called to reports of a blaze at Mr Allan Jnr's home near the Ross-shire village of Garve in the early hours but it was out by the time crews arrived.

But a major investigation was launched after his father was found wounded nearby. Mr Allan Snr was later arrested but police have now confirmed he has died.
