Q.  I  love wearing all black but have never been a huge fan of the traditional gothic look.

How can I exhibit my affinity toward the dark side without looking like a horror show?

A. There is no doubt that gothic fashion is still riding high, but this season sees the trend interpreted in its softest guise yet. So, if you have previously felt that this look requires too much commitment, now is the time to experiment with some black magic.

If mixed well you can achieve a smouldering and elegant look that is less costume and more sophisto. The mood here is tough femininity with a delicate touch.

Take inspiration from 19th century bohemians in the form of luxurious sheer floor-grazing skirts. Create a layer of polished new wave punk via leather, velvet, graphic tailoring and long open-weaved spiderweb knits, all in a palette of inky black.
