SCOTS singer Emile Sande has been nominated for five awards, including Artist of the Year, at the European Urban Music Awards.

Sande, who became a household name with her hit singles Read All About It and Next To Me, will go head-to-head with Rita Ora for the main prize at the awards ceremony.

The 25-year-old, from Aberdeenshire, is also shortlisted for Best Female, Best R&B Act, Best Video and Best Collaboration.

At what will be the 10th anniversary of the music awards, nominees will compete in 21 categories, all voted for by the public.

It will be a double celebration for Sande, a former medical student at Glasgow University, as her duet with British rapper and record producer Labrinth reached number one in the charts.

Beneath Your [sic] Beautiful topped the official UK singles chart, having ranked at number 85 last weekend. Sales for the song were given a boost after Labrinth and Sande performed it live on last Sunday's X Factor.

And there were further celebrations for Sande as her collaboration with rapper Naughty Boy debuted at number 10.

Taylor Swift topped the album charts with her fourth LP, Red, which was reportedly outselling Sande's Our Version Of Events by two to one.
