Four soldiers were shot dead yesterday in a daylight attack carried out by suspected Muslim insurgents in the violence-prone south.

Two were wounded.

Video footage of the attack was captured by cameras installed throughout Thailand's southernmost provinces, where Islamist insurgency has claimed more than 5000 lives.

The shooting is among several recent attacks. A bomb in Yala on Wednesday killed five policemen. The southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat are the only Muslim-dominated provinces in the largely Buddhist country.
