A body found in woods is that of missing 16-year-old schoolgirl Moyra As-Chainey, police have confirmed.

The Tain Royal Academy pupil was last seen on Wednesday morning. Her disappearance sparked a major land, air and sea search.

The girl's body was discovered by mountain rescuers in woods near her home in Edderton, Easter Ross.

More than 50 people, an RAF helicopter and search dogs were involved in the search.

Moyra was in her fifth year at school and was preparing for exams. Following the discovery of her body, rector Donnie MacLeod said: "I am devastated to hear this tragic news. On behalf of staff and pupils at our school, I extend our sincere sympathies to Moyra's parents and family at this very sad time."
