The vast majority of parents back a ban on TV adverts that promote junk food and sugary snacks before 9pm.

Some 59% believe the advertising of foods that are high in fat, sugar and salt make it harder for them to feed their child a healthy diet, says a survey for the Children's Food Trust.

The poll also found that more than four in five parents believed advertising has an impact on whether their child asks them for chocolate, while around three-quarters said it has an effect on whether their child requests fast food or sugary cereals.

Almost half (45%) admitted they let their child influence them when buying food for the family, while 69% agreed they could do more to make their child's diet healthier.
