* JOHN Brownlie last night was contemplating his future as manager of

Meadowbank Thistle just six weeks after having taken on the job.

The former Hibs and Scotland full-back has been in charge for just

seven matches but will decide today whether or not to resign.

Brownlie, who was assistant manager at Clyde before succeeding Donald

Park at Meadowbank, has been offered promotion in his job which could

mean working on Saturdays and, obviously, there would be a conflict with

his football commitments.

Meadowbank secretary-director Bill Hunter said: ''John seems to think

that football is a precarious situation. We are an ambitious club, and

will soon make an announcement about a new #6.5m stadium to be built in

Livingston, and to be ready in 1995.''
