CENTRAL Scotland Police have appealed for information about a bogus

taxi and its driver after two incidents in which young women were

seriously assaulted.

Police in Alloa are anxious to speak to anyone who has knowledge of a

white, four-door car which was operating on Saturday night and in the

early hours of yesterday from a taxi rank in the town's Mill Street.

The car was not displaying a hackney plate or taxi sign, but the man

at the wheel purported to be a taxi driver.

In the first incident, about 12.30am yesterday, an 18-year-old woman

and her friend entered the vehicle at the taxi rank. Her friend was

dropped off near to her home, but the car was then driven to an isolated

area near Sauchie where the girl was assaulted by the driver.

About two hours later, a 22-year-old woman entered a similarly

described car at the same rank in Mill Street, Alloa, along with a

female friend and an unknown male.

The female friend was dropped off at her home and the male was taken

to his home in Sauchie. The car was then driven to an isolated area

where the 22-year-old was subjected to what the police describe as ''a

violent assault''.

A police spokesman at Alloa said yesterday that they were anxious for

information.
