Conference B

Anyone who thought West of Scotland would be hampered by the absence of Jason Arnberger, reckoned without the form of the Australian's replacement, Corey Richards.

A half-century in each of his first two Conference innings have been enough to demonstrate that Richards, like his countryman, likes nothing better than feasting on runs. He was at it again in midweek, notching his third successive 50 for the Partick side.

West spokesman Tom Anderson said: ''Corey had a class act to follow, but he's certainly made a big impression in his first few games. At the moment, he can't stop scoring runs.''

Today, joint leaders West face their toughest test to date with a trip to former Western Union rivals Drumpellier.

The battle between Richards and Drumps' Scots-born Kiwi paceman, Scott Purdie, could hold the key. West are without keeper Alan Williamson whose place goes to John Orme.

Surprise packets Stoneywood-Dyce must beat Falkland in the clubs' first-ever meeting to maintain their 100% record.

Leaving nothing to chance, the Aberdeen club this week sent a representative south to check on the Scroggie Park wicket.

Falkland are without David Gray who sustained a broken finger on the opening day of the season.

Strathmore, desperate for points after a shaky opening, start a vital three-week period at home to lowly Corstorphine.

Secretary David McGregor said: ''After this, we have Falkland and Perthshire, and with no disrespect, these are games we must win.''

The group's other 100% men, Carlton, face a tricky trip to Poloc, while Perthshire entertain RHSM.
