A CALL for a ballot for industrial action will be made in Aberdeen next week in a bid to win back the job of social worker Bryan Low, who was supervising convicted paedophile Steven Leisk when he murdered nine-year-old Scott Simpson.

Mr Low, 43, was sacked from his #25,000 post with Aberdeen City Council following an investigation into allegations that he had ben trying to solicit work outside his full-time employment without permission. An external investigation into the social work department's role in the Scott Simpson case revealed Mr Low had been involved in a catalogue of errors.

However it was said there was no negligence on the part of Mr Low who admitted he was systematically deceived.

Last month, Mr Low was sacked, but now a special general meeting of Unison has been called to discuss the situation.
