A Scottish developer is set to export the concept of the retail park to Portugal.

A #10m out-of-town shopping centre is to be created on the outskirts of Lisbon through a joint venture between Miller Developments and Sonae Imobiliaria, Portugal's leading developer.

The 15,000 sq metre (161,460 sq ft) Sintra Retail Park will include 12 shop units and a fast-food restaurant. Subject to planning consent, it is expected to open for trading next year.

Although well established throughout Europe, the retail park concept does not yet exist in Portugal. The Sintra scheme will be followed by a rolling programme of retail parks across Portugal.
