Rock musician Tommy Lee was jailed for six months yesterday for kicking his wife, former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, as she held their baby son.

The Motley Crue drummer was led away in handcuffs to begin serving his sentence. He had pleaded no contest to a felony of spouse abuse.

A Los Angeles judge also ordered Lee to serve three years of probation, do 200 hours of community service, and donate $5000 (#3125) to a shelter for battered women. He also must avoid drugs and alcohol and stay at least 100 yards from his estranged wife.

The judge warned that if Lee violates any of the sentence, he will spend three years in state prison.

Lee was arrested in February after his wife called police claiming the drummer kicked her as she held seven-week-old Dylan. She filed for divorce within days.

In return for the no contest plea, charges of child abuse and unlawful possession of a firearm were dropped.

At the time of the attack on his wife, Lee was still on probation for attacking a photographer in 1996. In February he also denied attacking a guard during a concert in Phoenix.-AP
