MOVES to modernise the image of the Royal Family were reinforced in the traditional opening Queen's Letter to the General Assembly.
The letter, often bound by formal language, was a short easily-understood message that looked to the millennium and referred to the culmination of an Ecumenical Decade, examining the needs of women both in Church and society.
