Sonia the parrot has made a complete recovery after having her beak ripped off - thanks to a spot of superglue.

The South American Conya parrot came off second best in an encounter with a Macaw at Glasgow Zoo and zoo staff thought she would die.

However, Cumbernauld vet Alister Lawrie, who said the injury was one of the worst he had seen inflicted on any animal, stuck the beak back and although recovery has been slow, Sonia's beak has now begun to grow back.
