AN elderly man died and his wife was last night critically ill following a fire at their home in Irvine, Ayrshire, yesterday. A neighbour raised the alarm after the outbreak in a house in Livingstone Terrace.
Firefighters found the couple in the living room and they were taken to Crosshouse Hospital, where the man later died. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but police said there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances.
