THE wife of an elderly man who died in a fire in his Irvine home has also died in hospital, police confirmed last night. Mr Thomas Waddell, 76, and his wife Charlotte, 74, were taken from their smoke-filled home in Livingstone Terrace by firefighters on Monday.
Despite the efforts of staff at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, Mrs Waddell died yesterday. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
