Tall story inches higher

AN Author hopes to get a gentle giant recognised as Britain's tallest man. Fred Kempster, known as the Wiltshire Giant, who died in 1918 aged 29, never made it into the record books because his height was estimated at 7ft 8in by experts studying pictures. Now Colin Alexander-Jones, from Bath, claims to have proved in a new book that Mr Kempster was in fact 8ft 41/2in.
