AGREEMENT is likely to be reached to allow Scotland's biggest musical festival to go ahead.

The Health and Safety Executive had expressed concerns over safety at the Balado airfield site in Kinross which is to stage the T in the Park concert on July 11 and 12. Last year, the festival attracted 90,000 people.

The HSE's concerns centred on a bigger camp site and concert site which is crossed by an oil pipeline.

Scottish Natural Heritage and the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency had also expressed concerns about drainage.

Yesterday, Councillor Ian Miller, Perth and Kinross Council's convener of development control, said he expected agreement to be reached with the HSE over safety concerns ''in the next few days''. Thousands of tickets for the event, being organised by Big Day Out, have already been sold.
