Division Two

One team out of three chasing promotion will suffer heartbreak tonight, but Clydebank fans will not be shedding a tear if their team misses out.

The Bankies' follow-follow brigade will be backing relegated Brechin today in a game that visiting Clydebank must win to have any chance of playing in division one next season.

Fans have staged a series of protests since the club announced controversial plans to move to Dublin in January and relations between club and supporters have hit an all-time low, especially since it was revealed that some players are also against the Dublin move. A letter published in a local paper last week was claimed to be written by a player too afraid to reveal his identity.

A couple of dozen Bankies fans decided to make a long weekend of it in Angus and travelled north yesterday to watch Scotland's cricketers in action against Derbyshire at Forfar. They will be supporting the home side again today when the injury-hit City take on their erstwhile heroes, who will be without Kenny Brannigan and Scott Miller.

The Bankies must beat Brechin and hope that either Stranraer or Livingston slip up. Leaders Livingston are not only best placed but have a home game against Caley Thistle. The visitors from Inverness have had some success at Almondvale before and it will not be easy for Jim Leishman's team, who should be unchanged.

Stranraer were 19 points behind Clydebank at one stage but have now overtaken them and know that a win today at Broadwood will do the job. The problem is Clyde need a win to be safe from relegation. Ally Graham, a scoring hero in the past couple of weeks, is suspended, while Stranraer will be without Paul McIntyre and Duncan George.

Stenhousemuir will be without Max Christie and Jimmy Fisher as they try to avoid relegation for the first time in the club's history. Their task is to win away to Queen of the South - and then keep their fingers crossed.

Forfar, who travel to East Fife, are by no means safe and the Angus yo-yo team will want to avoid changing divisions yet again.
