ANDREW Parker's point-to-point season came to a premature end in County Durham on Monday, when he broke his jaw at Witton Castle.

The former northern area champion then saw one of his intended rides win under replacement Luke Morgan.

''I'm stuck on nine winners for the year now and I would have liked to have reached double figures which is always the aim,'' said Parker.

Luke Morgan's 15-length win on Hadaway Lad was the first career success for the Ecclefechan rider, the younger brother of established point-to-point rider Ran Morgan.

Meanwhile, at the Cumberland fixture today, Ran gets the leg up on Makin' Doo and Cape Crusader - both normally partnered by Parker.

The meeting has attracted a large entry and begins at 2pm, five miles south west of Aspatria on the A596.
