The Red Rose county snatched second place in Group A away from Warwickshire, who also won. Leicestershire topped the group.

Middlesex prevented Group D opponents Glamorgan from advancing after beating them by 19 runs at Cardiff. Keith Brown hit 109 runs in 162 minutes off 115 balls. Essex finished group runners-up behind Middlesex.

Darren Lehmann and David Byas sealed a home date in the next round for Yorkshire with a decisive third-wicket partnership against Durham at Headingley. Durham had to settle for runners-up in Group B and making the final eight.

Century man Matthew Fleming steered Kent into the quarter-finals, as runners-up to Surrey with a six-wicket victory over the British Universities in Group C.
