If striker Paul Keith's behaviour seemed a little odd at Harms-worth Park on Saturday, there was an explanation.

The prolific Fraserburgh striker is a die-hard Celtic supporter, and fans took it upon themselves to keep him in touch with events at Parkhead. Keith revealed: ''It was a meaningless match after losing the title to Huntly last weekend - and I couldn't think of anything but how Celtic were getting on.''

He insists his team-mates did not blow their championship bid after having buckled under pressure.

''People keep saying that we threw it away by failing to beat Forres when we should have a few weeks back - but I think it is unfair to single out one slip-up.''

He also sounded a warning to rival clubs, stating: ''The title is there for the taking next season. We have learned a lot this season and beaten all the top sides.

''We have also signed Brian Thomson for Caley Thistle and the indications are that the club are now prepared to spend cash on players instead of relying on the youth set-up.''

Keith put Fraserburgh ahead with a penalty before Danny MacRae gave Wick the equaliser.

At Fort William, the home side were routed for the fourth time in recent weeks with Mike Beattie hitting five in Cove Rangers 7-0 win.

Meanwhile, Elgin City have completed a trophy hat trick. Michael Green scooped the young player of the year award to follow the side's North Cup and Highland League Cup triumphs.
