Dream trip for young stars

TWO of Scotland's most promising tennis players, Frances Hendry (12) and David Brewer (13), pictured above, jetted off to Florida this week for a two-week scholarship accompanied by Judy Murray, the Scottish national coach.

The youngsters, winners of their respective British under-12 titles, were voted Scotland's most deserving junior players in 1997 by the SLTA in the 16-and-under age category.

The Ecosse A La Carte scholarships are at the Harry Hopman International Tennis Academy and the pair will be training alongside the world's top ranking players including Pete Sampras and Jennifer Capriati under the guidance of some of the best coaches.

Frances, now living in Edinburgh, has trained mainly at the Stirling University Gannochy Centre while David, from Paisley, trains at Whitecraigs and this year has added the British under-13 title to his collection.
