Caberfeidh, who have made the Balliemore Cup virtually their own property, meet Perth-based Tayforth at Kingussie today in the final of the intermediate championship. Cabers have won the trophy for the last three years in succession and Tayforth, stacked full of north players, are sure to offer a stiff test.

The Perth team lie joint top of south division one, battling with Ballachulish for a premier league play-off place. They have a well-earned reputation for open attractive shinty but they may find the experience of the north division one leaders too much.

Caberfeidh's form has shaded in recent weeks and their status as north division one leaders may not survive Kilmallie's challenge. Extra time and penalties will be used at the Dell to decide the issue if the final ends as a draw after regulation time.

Glenorchy have three games left to rescue themselves from relegation from the Premier League and face second bottom Newtonmore today at Dalmally in a crucial match. This is the biggest game either side have faced in years. Victory for Newtonmore would result in them leap-frogging Glenurquhart and avoiding relegation. Defeat will almost certainly consign Glen-orchy to the drop. Inveraray, idle this weekend, can only sit and wait to see how the result affects them. The battle to beat the drop could go to the very last games and a play-off may yet be required as goal difference is not taken into account if there is a tie.

One more point will clinch another league title for Kingussie. They meet Kyles at Tighnabruaich although they will not get the trophy even if they win. The presentation will be held over until a suitable home game.

Kingussie have meanwhile added another Marine Harvest Club of the Month award to their haul of prizes for the season. They get #100 as the outright winners and Boleskine from Foyers, winners of north division three, get the runners-up award and #50.

Camanachd Cup finalists Oban Camanachd continue their preparations with a visit to Fort William in the league.
