Motherwell v Aberdeen

Harri Kampman has formed some harsh judgments in his short tenure at Motherwell and these will be reflected in the blue-print he will unveil next week.

The Finnish coach, like today's opponents Aberdeen, will restructure his squad over the summer to ensure that relegation is not an issue again next season.

Kampman, who will run fitness tests on striker Tommy Coyne and defender Brian Martin before deciding his line-up, said: ''I don't want to talk about changes until this game is out of the way. It is important that we concentrate on winning and finishing seventh place in the league.

''Everyone is quite relaxed as we have survived in the premier division which was the main target when I came. Now I have made plans for the way ahead because we must become stronger.

''The last two years have been very disappointing for the club, always having to avoid relegation. This mentality must change.''

former St Mirren attacker Ricky Gillies is hoping he has done enough to justify his #350,000 transfer and secure his place at Pittodrie.

The Aberdeen manager Alex Miller will purge the pool which brought the club to the brink of the abyss once again and reputations will not deter him from his purpose.

He will be ruthless and there are certain to be a few surprises in those being shown the exit door.

''It has been a poor season in terms of results,'' conceded Gillies, ''but it's a pity that it is about to end as far as I'm concerned, having just broken into the team.

''I was getting to the stage where I wondered if I'd ever get my chance and it was becoming something of an embarrassment when people asked about my situation and I couldn't tell them.

''But better late than never as this has taken a lot of pressure off me. I know that the manager will be making many changes and if I had not got the opportunity in the first team I would probably have been one of those on the way out.

''Hopefully I have been able to show that I am worth a place in his plans and be there challenging the Old Firm next season.''

Once again Dean Windass, Paul Bernard, Tzanko Tzvetanov and Ilian Kiriakov are out through injury as they have been for a large proportion of the season. Their contribution will weigh heavily in Miller's deliberations.

Darren Young and Dennis Wyness, who have excelled in the reserves lately, will feature at some stage at Fir Park.
