TWO young girls, aged one and seven, were being treated yesterday for E-coli 0157 poisoning after sharing a meal.
Dr Colin Ramsay, consultant in public health medicine with Lothian Health, said: ''The most likely explanation is that the infection was acquired via raw minced beef. There is no evidence of other cases and no suggestion of an outbreak.''
The youngsters were both being treated at their homes near Edinburgh.
