TWO cabinets snapped up for #50 by at a Glasgow second-hand shop by Kate Bennett, 41, from Helensburgh, and later found to be by Charles Rennie Mackintosh each fetched #5060 at a Phillips auction in Edinburgh yesterday. Both went to a private collector from Finland.
Ms Bennett was looking for cupboards for her son's bedroom when she spotted the roomy side-cabinets lying unnoticed at the back of a second-hand shop in the city.
She thought little more about them until, six years later, she saw on a TV antiques programme that a similar cabinet had sold for #4000.
