qTHE final meeting on the Northern area schedule of the year takes place at Corbridge today, writes Gordon Brown.

Having supervised her first evening card of 1998 last night, Hamilton Park chief executive Hazel Dudgeon turns her attentions to the Open Maiden division two, in which she runs Komori.

The massive former Irish gelding showed promise on his debut at Aspatria seven days ago when he faded to finish seventh. Though bought as a lady's pointer, Dudgeon has entrusted the ride today to Ran Morgan until her headstrong charge becomes safer.

Meanwhile Joan Niven, mother of leading jump jockey Peter Niven, is represented in division one of the Open Maiden by her newcomer Kingennie.
