THE 56 matches in this season's Tennents Scottish Cup compet-ition have produced 173 goals at an average of 3.09 per game. This is a slightly higher average than that for games throughout Scotland in all competitions this season.
q TWO cup games produced nine goals each, both in the third round when Inverness Caledonian Thistle beat Annan Athletic 8-1 and Dunfermline beat Edinburgh City at East End Park. City were making their first appearance in the cup for more than 50 years.
q AT the other end of the scoring scale, there have been only four 0-0 draws in this season's competition.
q THREE players are leading the way for the individual top-scoring spot. Dunfermline's Andy Smith, Ian Ferguson, of Ayr United, and Ross County's Derek Adams have all scored five goals. All of Smith's goals came in the third round win over Edinburgh City, while both Feguson's and Adams' were spread over three matches.
qHEARTS have scored 12 cup goals this season through Stephane Adam (2), Thomas Flogel (2), Jose Quitongo (2), and singles from Colin Cameron, Steve Fulton, Jim Hamilton Neil McCann, Paul Ritchie and David Weir.
q RANGERS 11 goals have come from Jorg Albertz (3), Gordon Durie (3), Ally McCoist (3), and singles from Richard Gough and Marco Negri.
q THE player laying claim to the fastest goal in the cup this season will receive a cheque for #750 from the sponsors. Dunfermline's Colin Miller and St. Johnstone's Alan Kernaghan each scored in three minutes in third round ties against Edinburgh City and Partick Thistle respectively.
q DUNDEE'S Robert Douglas has won the clean-sheet award for playing 233 minutes of continuous cup football without conceding a goal. He will receive a cheque for #1,500.
q THERE have been 431,886 spectators at this season's Scottish Cup matches.
q THE semi final between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park att-racted the largest crowd - 48,993.
q ONLY 263 fans braved the January weather to watch Clydebank beat Montrose at Boghead in a second round tie.
q IN all domestic competitions, Hearts and Rangers have met 276 times, with Rangers winning 162 matches, Hearts winning 62 matches, and the other 52 ending in draws. Rangers have scored 535 goals and Hearts 323.
