TRADING standards officers in Edinburgh yesterday issued a warning after seizing garments which could strangle children. Anoraks and tee-shirt tops taken from two stores in the city have cords which pass completely through the material of the hood.

Head of regulatory services, Eric Robinson, said: ''If parents find such a garment they should stop their child wearing it immediately and contact us for further advice.'' The tee-shirt type tops bear the logos Enjoy the Seasons or Sportswear Casual Basic Collection 23 Trade Mark on the front and Nicole Pascalle and Danielle Philipe on the neck. The anoraks have the brand name Miniature.
