An elderly pedestrian killed when he was hit by a car near the entrance to Ferrygate Farm, East Lothian, at lunchtime on Wednesday, was yesterday named by police as Mr George Melrose, 80, of Glenburn Road, North Berwick.
The accident occurred on the A198 Dirleton to North Berwick Road, which was closed for about two hours while Lothian and Borders Police investigated the incident. Officers said they were anxious to speak to any witnesses.
