A fish waste reprocessing company which is an industry leader in Norway is bidding to set up a processing facility in the Highlands.

Scanbio ASA has set up a subsidiary in partnership with Norfab Products Ltd, a fish farming industry equipment manufacturer. Scanbio (Scotland) Ltd will have its head office in Fort William and it will set up equipment to collect, liquidise and treat dead fish and fish waste at harbours, fish farms, and processing facilities throughout the Highlands.

The mainland salmon processing facilities at Fort William, South Shian, Alness, Inverness and Dingwall will all have ensiling facilities, with more planned for Stornoway, Lerwick and Kirkwall.
