HELENSBURGH is to get a new children's home. Argyll and Bute Council has set aside #250,000 and is looking for a site in the town. Councillor Danny Kelly, housing and social work vice-convener, revealed that the first stage of the development will go ahead this year.

''It will see the establishment of a vital care facility for children in the Helensburgh and Lomond area,'' he said. Currently, children taken into care have to be placed elsewhere within Argyll and Bute, or outside the area, which means that families and social workers often have to travel long distances to visit them.
