The case of a former police constable who was a victim of racism within Scotland's biggest police force is to be debated in Parliament next week.

Ayrshire MP Sandra Osborne vowed to raise the case of one of her constituents, Mr Lawrence Ramadas, in the Commons after an industrial tribunal ruled that it could not award compensation against Strathclyde Police. This was despite an earlier ruling that there had been racial discrimination.

The tribunal threw out Mr Ramadas's case on a technicality last month as he had left it too long before complaining.

Now Mrs Osborne has been granted an adjournment debate next Monday in the Commons when she will be calling for an investigation into Strathclyde Police procedures for dealing with such issues.
